18 There is no fear where love exists.[a] Rather, perfect love banishes fear, for fear involves punishment, and the person who lives in fear has not been perfected in love.
19 We love[b] because God[c] first loved us. 20 Whoever says, “I love God,” but hates his brother is a liar. The one who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love the God whom he has not seen.
